Help is on the Way
Schedule your session today, and we will decide together what therapy would be best for you according to needs and life goals.
Mental Health Counseling
Psychotherapy, also known as mental health counseling or talk therapy, forms the foundation of my practice. I utilize mindfulness-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Additionally, I offer Narrative Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
These therapeutic approaches are tailored to help you navigate challenges, manage emotions, and foster personal growth. Each session is designed to provide a supportive space where you can explore and address your concerns effectively.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a type of psychotherapy that involves a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), meditation, and the cultivation of a present-oriented, non-judgmental attitude called “mindfulness.”
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy is a style of therapy that helps people become—and embrace being—an expert in their own lives. In narrative therapy, there is an emphasis on the stories that you develop and carry with you through your life.
EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
EMDR therapy involves attention to three time periods: the past, present, and future. Focus is given to past disturbing memories and related events. Also, it is given to current situations that cause distress, and to developing the skills and attitudes needed for positive future actions. With EMDR therapy, these items are addressed using an eight-phase treatment approach.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy addresses the intricate connection between the mind and body in addressing mental and physical challenges. Through this approach, you’ll develop awareness of how your emotional states manifest physically, and learn techniques such as breathwork and conscious relaxation to facilitate profound healing.
Anxiety, stress, and depression are often natural responses to environmental conditions, signaling a need for attention. However, prolonged states of these responses can hinder well-being. Mindfulness and Somatic therapies empower you to regain control and restore balance, fostering peace of mind and resilience.
Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that guides you in slowing down racing thoughts, releasing negativity, and cultivating calmness in both mind and body. It combines meditation with mindfulness, a state of complete awareness focused on the present moment, allowing you to acknowledge and accept thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment.
Techniques may vary, but generally involve deep breathing and heightened awareness of body and mind. Mindfulness meditation requires no special props or preparation—simply find a comfortable place to sit, dedicate three to five minutes of free time, and approach with an open, non-judgmental mindset.
How Do I Know if Therapy is Right for Me?
Therapy may be recommended when any mental health or emotional concern affects daily life and functioning. It provides an opportunity to understand your feelings, their origins, and effective coping strategies.
Therapy offers a safe space to navigate life challenges such as breakups, grief, parenting difficulties, COVID-19 impacts, or family struggles.
Please note: Individual therapy and crisis counseling are recommended for addressing abusive relationships to ensure your safety and well-being. If you think you may be in, or have left an abusive relationship, it’s essential to work with a therapist who understands the dynamics of abuse. I have extensive experience in this area and am trained in trauma-informed therapies.
